A fabulous review for our 2021 Vermentino by wine scribe, Ken Gargett.
"The great white grape from the Italian regions of Corsica and Sardinia is doing exceptionally well in a number of wine districts in
Australia, and Langhorne Creek in South Australia is certainly one of them. Even better, there are many good examples which offer excellent value and again, this is most definitely one. Lake Breeze hand harvest, before the grapes are gently pressed into stainless steel. They leave some lees in with the juice in an effort to improve the texture. A cool fermentation follows, a process which they find helps retain freshness.
Pale yellow with a flick of green. On the nose, florals, citrus, wet stones, spices and hints of limes. There is lots of flavour to be found here. Still very youthful, there is good persistence, over a well-defined structure, all carried by a fine line of acidity. An excellent example of the variety, one which should drink nicely over the next couple of years. As they do on the island of Sardinia, match it with a plate of fresh seafood."
