2020 Malbec 95 pts
June 01, 2022
Our 2020 Malbec has been awarded 95 points by James Halliday!
It’s been said that Langhorne Creek is malbec’s best-suited Australian home.
We’ve been growing malbec at Lake Breeze since the late 1990’s, however this is only the second vintage Greg that has produced a straight malbec. So it's seriously been 20 years in the making!
Halliday has written: "Deep, vibrant purple crimson; the 2nd malbec ex Lake Breeze, the first (2019) was Champion Wine at the Langhorne Creek Wine Show ’21. Smart-harvested whole berries, open fermented, 12 days on skins; matured 18 months in used French barriques, racked 3-4 times; not fined. Layer upon layer of fruit, satsuma plum, tendrils of licorice and a sprinkle of dark chocolate fruit. Langhorne Creek and malbec walk together."
The results for our other wines tasted will be published in the Halliday 2023 Wine Companion, available at bookstores on August 4.
Our 2020 Malbec is available at cellar door for tastings, sales and with lunch or shop online
