new release malbec

We're pretty excited to introduce our newest wine. 2019 Malbec.

Malbec has a long history in Langhorne Creek and has been successfully used in our Lake Breeze blends for a number of years. Greg's been playing around with our Malbec for 20 or so years now and has now bottled up a small parcel for me to sell at cellar door and to our mail order customers.

There's a little more information below, but if I had to sum it up I'd say it shows; "deliciously dark fruits and some brooding, exotic spices".
Cheers, Robyn.

Selected from two sites on our vineyard, one on the traditional flood plain which provides richness, dark fruits and soft tannins. The other block on lighter soils off the flood plain where the wine has amazing lifted floral notes, purple
colour and a firmer tannin structure.

Both parcels were fermented separately in small open top fermenters with some whole berry inclusion. The grapes had 1 to 2 days of cold soaking prior to fermentation for 7-8 days on skins prior to being pressed into 3 year old
French oak barriques. The wine remained in barrel for 18 months, with three rackings only to clean up before bottling without fining or filtration.

The resultant wine is deep purple in colour, has an enticing bouquet of violets and mulberry, with some spicy notes.  The palate has a luxurious mouthfeel and
seductive fine tannins which makes for great current drinking or alternatively can be cellared with confidence for the next 6-8 years.
